I think the Micky Thompson Baja ATZ 33" tyres aren't doing any favours. Got another set of BFGs thats way lighter (bought set of 4 for a single spare - selling rest soon). Might switch the tyres out and see what my economy figures will drop to.

Recently replaced the intercooler with CCIC and got a Legendex 3" exhaust. Got 2" lift, 33" types, roof rack, dual wheel carrier and getting ~14LPH @ 100km/h. Currently boosting at around 16-17PSI at these speeds.

Had an issue when I took my car out 4wding for the first time in ages and I was getting 18LPH and scanguage peaking at 30LPH to and for destination. Got home, cleaned the MAF, down to 14 LPH.

Though overall, still think my LOAD averages are still way too high. But I think the tyres are the issue now. Simply too heavy.

As of 16/7/2016 (the last time I filled up) I've done 6,780km and used 769.84 litres. That comes to 11.35 l/100km average.

Is 15/16LPH on the scanguage expected at 100km/h for a fully loaded car (roof rack, roof top tent, dual wheel carrier, car loaded, 33", 2" lift)? The ZD30 really feels the extra weight.

Togenshi that's sounds about right fully loaded even without the rooftop tent I would get the same and add a trailer and it would be 18 or more, one of the reason I dumped the 3 ltr and went to a Y62

So how often should the fuel filter be changed?
And regarding fuel economey mine seems to vary alot.
My dash command app says 12.5LP/100.
And sits around 9-14LP/100 sitting on 110.
I filled tank up last week and up to 450kms and have half a tank left. Mixed highway/city

Pretty sure its drain out water every service and replace filter every 40K.

So I had some time on the 8-10,000km drive to Karijini and Gibb River Road. There is something about the MAP sensor over 15psi (+14.7psi) that causes the ECU to dump fuel into the cylinder. I'm seriously thinking of a remap of my ECU. I would adjust my dawes valve to sit at 14psi, get 13-14L per 100km and then set it to 15.5psi and all the sudden 18-22L per 100km. Its stupid. It smells like a engineer's lazy way to manage the NOx output.

Makes me think that this engine wouldn't actually be too bad (under powered still but fuel economy would be decent) if the ECU mapping and timings were tuned better by Nissan.

Interesting. I am always under that boost number, so haven't seen anything like 18-22.

I wonder what effect the EGR fuel map has- when the ECU invokes the EGR. Does it add more or less fuel?

Anyhow, bypassing Nissans fuel/boost maps seems like the way to go.

The issue is I think a lot of the custom maps are focusing on power. Lets face it, that is not what you are going to get out of the ZD30.

If I could get a consistent 11-13L per 100km (at 100km/h) on my car with roof rack, roof top tent, dual wheel carrier, etc, I would be perfectly happy with engine. It means 1000km range on the standard tanks. Sure, up big hills, I will lose speed and struggle to hit 140km/h but where it counts is that I can still get to that reclusive fishing/camping spot over river crossings and technical sections.

Managed to get ~10-11L/100km @ 100km/h on my CRD with 35" tyres.

The sad fact is that so much effort was required to get to this kind of economy. Though I am confident that I should be able to drop this number by 1-2 more Litres with a couple more mods. ECU and unichip being the big one.

Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ 33" on a Nissan Patrol 17" alloys weighed more than the 35" BFG Goodrich MTZ on a 15" rim.

I got 15/100 for my last 800km, that was a trip to walhalla and lots of steep hills that I didnt baby it on. My old 4.8 would have used 28-30/100 so I'm happen enough, I can get 13/100 if i just cruise at 100. 4spd auto.
Mods 33's, roofrack, bullbar, 2" lift, lights, EGR block, K & N filter
Future: i/c, i/c piping, and hopefully remap.

Is that towing? I have the same mods besides roof rack and get 15's on average hwy and mid 14's on flat hwy. Must have been something wrong to be getting so high. I have NEVER got over 18 in my 4.8

I could get 15.5 on the highway too, but offload it was too much fun to drive slow. I got 70/100 once when towing a GQ back up a long hill. all 4 wheels spun the whole way it was a little steep. needed a new tow strap too afterwards. managed to do 100km/hr on billy goats going uphill once...
Back when the 4.8 came out the guys at one of the car mags managed to get 70/100 in the sand driving it a bit crazy too. So nothing was wrong with the 4.8, just something wrong with the driver.
