Max tyre size?

hey everyone

well the 33x 12.5 15R goodyear MTRs dont seem to be big enough for me anymore... so i was wondering what was the max tyre size you can put on a patrol before they start to rub? the patrol has a 5inch coil lift if thats any help.

i think 33s are the biggest you can go without doing body mods

hi i"m running 35s with a 50mm spring &50mm body lift,(just rub but not worth writing home about)they are on 16x8 crusier rims so 35 s with a 5inch lift should be ok

I run 33's on mine with a 5" spring lift & I know 35's wouldnt fit without touching on full lock.

I had a 36 on mine the other day and looked sweet didnt touch from lock to lock but was close but would need a offset rim not to rub hard. Or a body lift would really help. I say borrow a set if you can and take them on a test run.

well news is... 35s do rub!! tried some 34x 11.5 simex tyres and they fit a treat... took it up on the flex ramp to test them out...

5inch lift, well they shouldnt rub if its a true 5inch lift as my mate had a 6inch lift with no body lift and 37inch tires and they didnt rub, but he did have drop box's in the front so maybe they pushed the diff forward enough not to rub.
and also i have a 4inch lift with a 2inch body lift and i run 315/75/16's (35inch)and they dont even come close to rubbing

I think the point everyone is missing here is that its not so much to do with tyre size, but more spring rates.
If you have really stiff suspension, you can put 35's on with a 3"lift and they wont rub. If you have super-flexy springs and bushes, you can make 33's rub with a 6" lift!!
I dont think there is really an over-all right or wrong answer to this question as there are many determining factors, not just the size of the tyre.

hey everyone

yeah my springs are hell flexy... i tried some 35x 12.5 baja claws on and drove up the flex ramp... well they rub at the rear!!... then i tried some 34x 11.5 simex tyres and they didnt rub at all at full flex... so now i guess i just have to buy some 34inch simex tyres for play :p
