This has been discussed in every forum to date that I know of, Governments and their pricing policy ( TAX ) is killing many of us at the bowser.
Two of my MQ's are on LPG and two are on diesel and the other two are on petrol.
I choose to drive the diesel rig around most of the time in order to save some money......
Recently I have been looking at alternative fuels for the diesel motor, things like adding an LPG setup to the diesel, this way I could lean off the diesel and replace what I lean it off by with LPG ...... yeah I know sounds weird but quite a few interstate trucks are now doing just that !
It works like this basicaly..... The LPG is introduced into the combustion chamber is via the 'traditional" mixer / converter setup, the diesel is leaned off as there is now an abundance of fuel to burn, the diesel ignites as per usual and here's the magic part.... the LPG is then ignighted from the ignition of the diesel and it burns far more rapidly....... this inturn produces more power, it also produces much less nasty chemicals that are released into the atmosphere....... sounds good hey !
The few of truckies I spoke to said they had halved their fuel bills in some instances but generaly found at least a third in savings over straight diesel
They also claim .....
an increase of up to 30% more horse power, ( one had a dyno sheet to prove it )
longer intervals between oil changes,
far cleaner oil,
better oil viscosity due to the cleaner fuel, ( oil pressure was UP noticebly! )
longer intervals between fuel filter replacements
Interesting thing was that one of the guys I spoke to wasnt running a turbo ( old truck ) and he had more praise for the LPG addition than the others
Other alternative fuel such as "BIOFUEL" are also comming to notice, here's a couple of interesting links on the subject.....

Has any-one had dealings or know any-one that has tried these alternate fuels?
