Hey guys,
i have a ford mav and was wanting to change my rear diff oil and i been on the penrite site to get recommendation and they have said the
Rear differential oil ---------LIMSLIP 140
But i been told that LSD oil is too thick for mine because i have a rear diff lock and will need a different type of oil as my rear diff is not constant lsd.
is this true?
what has any other owners changed there rear diff oils with, for the mav with factory diff lock.

i would be using limslip 85w-140.
its a great oil for front and rear diffs, plenty of protection in the rear diff at high temps, but not too thick for the front diff when its cold.
i have an MK patrol with ARB air lockers and this is what i use.
if you have an auto locker, they work on the same principal as an LSD, except fully lock up under load rahter than just drag the other wheel.

80 W 90 API 5 as it says in the book, why change the spec of the oil ? If you want to be posh go synthetic. Helps to do a short change to flush out any baddies.

i wouldnt use an lsd oil in a non lsd diff as i am sure lsd oil has or doesnt have ingrediants to increase friction for the lsd
either way it seems lsd oil in a non lsd diff may cause premature wear
my understanding of it

marinNon LSD diffs and factory locker diffs use the same oil in GQ's. GL5, grade 90 for Europe and 90/140 for Australia.
The LSD oil for Australia used to be a 140 with 10% friction modifier added but its all in one now.
