I might be able to get a denco kit for my GQ does anyone have power stats for this type of kit on a td42 ? or should i go for a safari kit or something else ? motor has been regularly serviced every 5000 and has done 260000 kays overall is that amount of kays ok for turbo fitment ? any help will be good thanks Adam..

i Just fitted a denco turbo kit to my 89 safari the power is 130 kw
only prob i had fitting it was i had to move the vacume llines on the lhs infront of the fuel filter and i aslo made a heat sheild to. only minor thing but i am very happy with the outcome

i fitted the turbo kit at 148000 km and it is auto so only 1st gear skids hehe
i fitted it myself (I am a diesel mechanic)
the kit cost $3100
exhaust i made the dump pipe, from the dump pipe to the back 3 inch from the turbo with a flex cost $600
i chose the kit due to
1. getting it cheap
2. i did not have to put a hole in the sump for the turbo drain
3. it looks more standard than alot of other kits.

Hey there PSI 08, are you running a boost compensator at all?

also what boost are you running, I gather you arn't running a intercooler at the moment??

I have a DTS system on my '88 TD42. where can I get a boost controller for it? I looked in all the usual auto shops, but all they have is the guage (which I know I need as well).

The oil feed to the turbo comes from the oil filter housing from a t piece where the oil preasure sender is and the drain goes to a t fitting to the vacume pump oil return so no drilling holes in the sump. (big buying factor for me cause i did not like the idea of putting a hole in the sump)
the boost preasure is 7 to 8 psi from what i have been told do not have a boost guage yet it is on order.
I do not have a boost compensator and dont want one , the way i see it is the more fuel you can get at low rpm the quicker it should be in boost.
no intercooler for it yet i will be trying to get one on monday, one that i can mount on top of the engine like the new patrols.
i have only had the turbo on for 3 weeks but i was money well spent
Andrew search the net for turbo kits i saw some one advertising boost compensators some where when i was reasearching turbo kits.

I know that getting more fuel in down low, the quicker it will spool up, but that is where I am limited, my td42 is running right on the limits of being to rich at low rpm, (off boost) and is then leaning out to what most would class as a below average fuel mixture once fully spooled up, If I had the boost compensator, I would then be able to keep the mixtures right all the way up the scale.
