I know there will be many opinions on this but need a few questions answered from people who have used their systems for a while in the rough. I'm heading off to the Kimberley in July and after 20 odd years of using crates I might upgrade. I have a 40 litre fridge. I am toying with the idea of a two or three drawer system + fridge slide.

What do you think is the best buy in terms of :

a. robustness
b. ease of use
c. quietness on corrugations (hate rattles!)
d. value for money

Thanks in advance!

Firstly, whats your budget, as I thought Ned kelly was dead many decades ago. Some of the prices are beyond robbery...

The ones Jim makes are quite good value and well tested.

I have been using the outback drawer system with fridge slide for a little over a year now. I found them to be good. Sturdy, no noise. Price I do not know as thet were in vehicle when I got it

Thanks for the replies...

Truckster, I have checked out the offroad systems and they seem to be excellent value. As you said many of the other manufacturers seem to be related to Ned Kelly (or even to the government of the time). I did like how he burnt all the mortgages from the bank at Euroa though ;) Popular move I would have thought!

My budget is open, but I would like something that does the job effectively. I looked at the Black Widow systems and as far as I am concerned they are well built but overpriced by about double for what they are. The offroad system seems to be about half the price of most and well built.

Jim can also modify them to suit your needs if you have any special things in mind.

Thanks Truckster...I have a feeling that I will go with them. Have to see them in the flesh first though. As long as I get them before I head off in July.

Now now Grafe, Ned Kelly was not that nice he shot the unarmed troopers at Stringbark Creek which was not cricket and he did not ask anyone at the Glenrowan Hotel if they would like to remain hostages while he happly shot it out in a suit of armour.

I could say that he didn't shoot the civilians at Glenrowan but that the police did without giving the gang a chance to let the civilians out. At Stringybark Creek the troopers were armed and also had in their kit the then equivalent of body bags to carry "something" home with. They weren't without intent.

The victors generally write history ;)

Grafe,

Despite the price, I have had a Black Widow system for many years, which has been passed thru a number of vehicles with no bother. It has carried a lot of assorted stuff, thru many parts of Aust with no dramas. They don't rattle, can be locked, and are fully lined.

Value for money, I think they are excellent.

You could make your own, to your own specs for under 200 stallions that Ned Kelly wants.

Yeah I seen the movie and I saw them slip a noose and a hood over Ned Kelly' head and then the movie finished. You see they never really did hang old Ned, I know because I saw him singing with the Rolling Stones years later.
