will 3 litre parts fit 4.2 diesel

Gday all! does anyone know if 3 litre gq parts will fit a 4.2 diesel i.ve been told the diffs, gearbox,transfer ratios are different is this true?what about the braking system?

your best getting the vin numbers of the two patrols in question, go down to your local dealership and they will tell you all about what the 2 have, it might waste their time, possibly slip a $20 coz your getting the truth on what it has.

or they can tell you from experience yes or no.

I was pretty sure the grenade was supposed to be the replacement for the 4.2 eng, so all running gear is the same, bar the bell housing.

And I have been on the phone once to alot of mechanics and some are either not aware of the 2.8 or confuse it with the 3litre, I had one guy tell me black and blue that a 2.8 has a timing chain not a timing belt when I rang for a quote. The 2.8's are somewhat different to the rest.

GQ 3 litre is a petrol engine
GQ 2.8 is a diesel engine - developed from the 3 litre petrol.
They use the same gearbox.
GQ 4.2 diesel uses a different gearbox, same as 4.2 petrol.
They all use the same transfer box. Diffs are interchangeable.
Ratios are all over the place so make sure you have the same diff ratio front and rear.
