Hi All

I have got a complete running GQ (Y60 Station wagon) Chassis. My mate has a immaculate MQ (1983 Station wagon) body. Would this body fit straight onto the gq chassis or are there too many modifications.

cheers

i know some of the panels swap over. if you can measure up all the mounting holes and draw it up on paper to compare might be the go.

The chassis is different and wider on a GQ and the body mounts are in different spots. Doors are the same fit though.

yes it is a coil chassis. I used the gq body on another project so I am left with a complete chassis TD42 engine and gear box

Transmission tunnel in a GQ is wider. Your MQ body may not fit over a GQ gearbox. nothing a few mods wouldn't fix though.

GQ's have such flared guards because they're essentially a much modified MQ body on the GQ chassis. The track on the GQ is much wider than the MQ, hence the bulges & flares, so there's one problem. The trans tunnel is another. Depends how much trouble you're prepared to go to, I guess. Another question: is it even legal? What about Crash-Testing? I'd think RTA/Rego would view the 2 models as completely different vehicles. Worth looking into.

This has been tried before. Body mounts were the main problem.
