I love my old smoker but the minister of war is having second thoughts. Even though she's given me the official oki doki to get diff lockers, she's starting to wonder if we should upgrade to a GU. Her problem is comfort, The seats don't recline enough for those long trips or even when just sitting in the truck catching 40 or so winks. I sat in a GU ute yesterday and there isn’t much more room than the GQs.
I considered getting after market seats that are thinner, therefore can tilt back further but it isn't the thickness of the seat that stops it tilting back but it's the head rest.
To cut a long story short, is it possible to extend the back of the cabin about a foot or so? If so is it a hard/expensive job and who does them in the Sydney area? Ah! And does it need to be engineered?

buy a wagon body and get that chopped down and fitted to your rails, much easier and can be done before you need to take the car off the road.

It can be done, and it will need engineering.
Six wheel drive conversions in dolby did Tony Ryans GQ coilcab that Bob Dunsmore now owns. I don't know who in sydney tho.

bob dunsmores comp truck is a ute cab that has been extended back a foot. it has had a window put in and really needs to be seen to understand how its done.
the outside looks like an extra cab, but the ute floor finishes in the standard position and then steps up. a water tank resides under this and there is alot of extra room behind the seats still. there should be alot of photos on most offroad image websites.. it is also on the extreme winch, outback07 and cliffhanger08DVDs
