Hi all, does anyone know if I need to change the carbi on my auto gq4.2 when I'm installing a manual gearbox, I've heard that there is a difference.
The carbi on my current engine is good and I don't want to swap it unless I have to. I do have a spare patrol that I am getting the parts from so if anyone can give me any advise it would all be good.
Cheers Gordon

I have just done that auto to manual and using existing carby and it performs fine it is just the choke that gives me the pips as with gas you don't need it so I'm going to disable it.

YEAH I'VE RECENTLY JUST FOUND A DIFFERENCE.

i havent been able to confirm it in the 'gregoreys', but i changed my carby a while ago. i have tb42 auto. cracked the head so during renewal i put a whole new intake manifold including carby from another truck.

first i noticed the 'auto choke' setup was different, but when it was carrying on stupid - gear changes and reving etc, i realised 1 vital difference,

the old carby had a Throttle Position Sensor, the new one didnt!

Im assuming the TPS tells the auto box what gear it should be in, yeah?

Changeing from auto to manual wont matter it just doesnt plug in, just the other way round would matter. (i may stand corrected.......anyone?)
