Driving back home last night my GQ decided to go BOOM on me and completely stopped :x , I managed to pull up on the side of the road and opened the hood to find some smoke and a very bad coming from the front on the engine where my air filter sits. I tried to start it but the engine felt like it wanted to jump out of the engine bay I guessing it is either the connecting rods or the crank shaft
Any ideas?

The patrol is officially dead :x

The Pistons are broken and the crank shaft is damaged Pieces of the piston rings where sitting in the intake manifold when I opened her up :x
Apparently the timing chain broke and caused everything to go BOOM

I really miss her

I am thinking installing a TB45E instead of the TB42E or a V8 but I am not sure how reliable that is

its probably cheaper to install a 350 chev and they seem very reliable.
get an injected one or even better get a brand new crate motor from the USA.
marks adaptors i think [ www.marks4wd.com ] should have all you need.

Sorry to hear about your engine

A V8 will be reliable enough, but there's a lot of little problems associated with the conversion that'll need to be sorted..

My condolences on the loss. Does anybody know if it is possible to get hold of the new 4.8 engine and what is involved in putting it into the GQ?
