mate i've spoken to some that reckon run it on gas most of the time, avoid alternating all the time, just run a tank of juice through every 3 or 4 tanks of gas.
i've also heard (which is how i ran mine) that gas dries out the seals in the carbie; that you should change to petty overnight (short stops are ok on gas) and start cold on petrol. i found mine started better on petty anyway. i doubt it was ever run this way before i had it, and i had constant issues with compromise tuning for both fuels. hard to say if it was the motor on its way out or if me running it this way caused the problems.
another thing you might find useful; if you have an impco system,
starting on petrol, give it 1 crank, back to "ON", two full hits of throttle then crank opening the throttle slightly if you need to.
on gas, flick the key between "ACC & ON" 3 times to prime the mixer, crank (dont turn it over more than 3-4 times), if no joy, 3 primes again and crank, give it a slight hit of throttle if it tries to go but dosent quite make it.
if you dont already use it, a flashlube valvesaver trickler or fuel additive is the go for smooth running protecting your donk long term when running duel fuel. the trickler is great value,
