Come up to NWS mate, you will get around $28000. I was looking to buy a ****y stock standard 2000 4.2TD with a f*cked gear box for $28990 from a car yard.

Damn, I have a 2001 3ltr, dual battery, overhead console with GME UHF and a side band CB, lights, Trailer brakes (never towed a van!), Safari Snorkle, fully wires in 6mm wire to the trailer plug, and into the rear for fridges merit plugs and engle in the rear, very nice condition, ARB Roof Rack, IPF Spots, winch bar (nissan) only 142,000 on the clock, just put new shocks and coil springs in today!, I want to buy my dads 05 model and use mine as a trade to get mum into a new smaller car, as dads very sick and cannot drive anymore.....
Maroon colour.. Townsville QLD

Yea mate know what your sayinthey seem to be alot more expensive down there,4by's in general really hold their money over here compared to back home(ireland) i was really shocked at the prices when i came over here,if the import tax wasnt as high as it is there would be a pretty penny to be made on importing them to here
heres a link to the uk autotrader- http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/nissan/patrol/postcode/bt465jx/radius/1500
bit of a difference eh?

I spoke to the owner and i was going to travell from vic to buy it until he told me these things. Been in an accident i beleive as a repairable write off, Head on crash in NSW. He purchased it from NSW it still has NSW rego he has never changed it over. Its under finance still which normally makes me stear clear i have heard of people being cought out with financed cars. The photos that he posted are from when purchased and not current photos. So i decided if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Thanks for that Woodsy. I was seriously thinking about it for a while but as you say, if it sounds to good to be true........... Cars like this one, without the baggage and history of course, dont hang around long at that price.

Thanks Woodsy for helping us all understand why this 4.2TD is still for sale!
the info would explain why the other expected buyers had changed their minds on the sale, they probably done a revs check and shat em selves!..
i totally agree.. if its too good then well it probably is!
why couldn't he have just put that in the add and be honest with everyone? wasting peoples time :headwall:

NO worries guys, to be honest id rather be helping guys on this forum sell their stuff but I mean after i was told that by the owner i just thought there was to many dodgy things with the car to take the risk. I may be wrong he may pay off his loan and the repair might be perfect and the rego well im not sure about that, someone else may take the risk and its possible they get a great car at a good price but in my opinion it was to risky. All you guys have been a great help to me on this forum so i thought the info should be known.

i have been up front with every person that conatcted me personally. would you not agree woodsy that i told you everyhting you have posted hence the price? everyone that contacted me understood what I have told them?? i don't see the issue. am happy for everyone to have the vehicle inspected as they wish as i am not trying to hide anything
i would agree that if i had advertised it for standard 4.2 price then yes i am trying to take advantage. I just chasing what i paid for it as i bought it after an inspection buy a friend that showed all repair work was done correctly.
not fussed what people say but like i said it is an honest car at an honest price and if someone wants to get it checked out and make an offer please feel free.
also i don't see the issue with finance. I also told you that i would have the car transferred before sale and was happy for your bank to talk to mine and sign any paper work like normally gets done when purchasing a car under finance. you make it sound like im selling the car not in my name or something?? the car has been inspected in s.a like any car that gets brought over friom interstate. i have all paper work. if you came to look at it i would get everyhting in order for you like i told you. but you did not say this to anyone in your post??
yes everyone on this site had been helpful and i don't understand the current slander?? i have been away a lot hence the trouble selling it and organising stuff while im away etc.
i have not misled anyone. i have a contact number in the add so people that want detailed info can ring me. it is easier to explain to someone in conversation rather than write it on a forum and have others make assumptions without all the info.

thank you.
yes i understand as thats what i thought when i purchased the car. i thought to good to be true also. however i got it inspected etc and for the things that needed to be fixed like air-con,front window air leak, antenna, tow ball lights, slight crack in rear barn door (20mm just needes a small weld) to name the main ones it was an awesome deal. like i said i love the car but cant afford to keep it as i need to fix my rally car.
honest car, honest price, all inspections welcome.

Hi Welzy,
What is the full history (as you know it) of this vehicle? Are you able to put it in a post so that everyone can read what you know and make an informed decision. I'm looking at 4.2's at the moment, so if can give a run-down that would be great.

car was a repairable writeoff in nsw. had front corner damage. crashed by owners father. car was fixed then had to have FULL vehicle inspection and roadworthy in n.s.w. was used as daily around town. owner was diesel mechanic who fixed it for his dad then kept it. he sold to buy landcrusiser.
i had it inspected before purcahse. got it over to s.a than had to go over the pits again. cleared first time no issues. fully registered in s.a.
i purchased as tow vehicle for rally car. i crashed rally car. now need money to fix rally car !!!
cheers
