my shocks are cactus...well one is leaking so i reckon the rest aren't far off.
I don't want the same ones as i've got at the moment, power down (now Raw 4x4) 41mm adjustables, which have only lasted about 2 years @ 50,000km...i think, so i don't want them again if they're gonna crap them selves in that period.
I was thinking Tough Dog 45mm adjustables but they're out of reach $$ wise now.
read a few good wraps on Pro-Comp ES9000 shocks....that or EFS Elite. all would need to be for 4" reagion lifted patrol.
anyone got any comments on either of the above, or any others.
cheers

Oondy,
I have Lovells shocks with my Lovells coils. Actually the shocks are made by Cofap in Brazil who also make the TJM XGS shocks, EFS, Dobinsons etc... So far so good with mine, but the other great thing about them is the 5 year warranty. Nothing like getting free replacements in a few years huh! :p Plus they cost less than the other above brands...? Some people may tell you that the other companies do all this testing etc... and recommend their own rates to the manufacturer... uhmmm... you can still see the yellow XGS paint on the eyes of mine before they were painted Lovells silver! So much for any other argument. I know what you mean about the 45mm adjust Tough Dogs.

Oondy,
You can get them in any colour or price you like... but underneath they are probably made by the same factory in Brazil...??? :)

Would be intrested in your experience here?
My rig has rancho's 9000, with cab adj, brought 16 years ago still work fade a little. Suspension is changing so new shocks are in order had thought DOG's 45mm adj or Rancho's 9000 again.

Just fitted tough dog adjustables to mine and am totally rapt with the set up.
But my last shocks were totally gone, one loose as and one nearly seized, so I spose anything would be better..:)

Flex wise the ranchos didn't have a problem but I found on road I had to run them at the stiffest setting to keep the truck handling reasonable.
Also take into account the size different between a rancho and say a tough dog. The rancho is considerable smaller which means they also hold less oil meaning less cooling and would probably overheat if travelling any real distance on a corrugated road.

Was having a hard time justifying the Tough Dogs extra cost over Rancho's but will go for dog's if nothing else can equal them.
The Rancho's did fade a lot after a hour on corrugations then again my Range would eat high end gas shocks on corrugations (top seal blowouts, 17+ years ago tech has changed since then)

have had rancho rs5000 on 2 4bys now and think theyre great value for money.
my gq coily ute gets worked pretty hard doing farm and recreational duties not to mention heaps of corrugations and i havent had any probs in 40000ks
i think the spring rate chosen has a lot to do with the shocks performance and life span, ie, they should be matched
im running king 2inch, stage 2 progressive springs with the ranchos and no probs on or off road, flex nice aswell. ;)

No-one's mentioned good ol' OME's? Mine are quite good & I've no idea how old they are. Had OME's in Suzukis, an L300 & a Jackaroo with no probs.
