Accelerator Cable?

G'day guys,

My GQ seems to have a bit of a sticky accelerator cable lately. I just want to know if there are any other likely causes, before I replace the cable.

Symptoms: Occasional high idle (1000-1700rpm). Feels like driving with cruise contol on, at times! eg, when coasting along (rare, in a Diesel, I know!!!) the revs and speed sometimes dont drop away, but maintain speed.

I've sprayed WD40 everywhere, with no real improvement.

Accelerator cable? Something else to look for?

Did you spray wd40 down the cable its self, like in between the inner and outer sheeth while pumping the accelerator???

check to see if the return spring on the pump is not faulty.
also are you sure its the accelorator cable sticking.
unfortunatly buggered injector pumps can show these symptoms too.
