Default ZD30 ST GU4 : Speed Signal Wire

Hi

I am trying to install a digital Tachometer and i am required to find the Speed Signal wire and tap into it

Can anyone tell me the best way to do this?

Is it via the ECM, and if so what wire/port as I have seen so many different ECU diagrams for the ZD30

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks so much

Paul

speed signal as in engine speed rpm?
above the clutch pedal area is 3 plugs
I think on the big plug is a yellow with black trace wire

this is the tacho signal from ecu to tacho

Thanks Bobby,

Its not the RPM i need but the speed I need so it can be displayed on the LED screen of the device I purchased

I assume it must be a different wire somewhere

Thanks

Paul

ok u can get it behind dash on at the 4 or 5 plugs in fusebox next to battery in engine bay

under the dash above clutch pedal area is a big plug
2 rows of 13 pins
on one row in the middle two pins are blanked out and no wires
right next to those blanks is a blue wire with orange trace
that wire is the speed signal going into the 2004 zd30 ecu from the dash
so try that first

in the engine bay
the speed sensor has 2 wires
a light blue wire and also a grey wire

next to the battery under the fusebox cover there is a grey plug with about 10 wires/pins
on one end on each corner top and bottom is the grey wire and the light blue wire
these two are the speed sensor wires
im pretty sure from memory the light blue is ground and the grey is an inductive signal
so try splice into the grey wire

Thanks again Bobby

I found the wire just as you described, hooked it up and it works a treat

Know i know why I keep getting speeding tickets…My speedo says 60KPH but my actual speed is 71KPH…….I would not think 33" tyres would make that much difference
