Default TD42 schwitzer turbo replacement options?

Hi guys,

I am thinking about getting rid of the old schwitzer S2A high mount turbo.

The turbo has served me well but it is now leaking a bit oil at the waste gate lever.

Now I am to rebuild the head, might be a good time for a new turbo.

From what I have read here so far, TD05 turbo is a very good option. I am not sure how much is involved. Can I keep my 3" dump pipe and keep it high mount and etc?

My setup is this:

TD05 is like this:

My exhaust manifold is for high mount but with an angle, while high mount Td05 is horizontal. So appears my intercooler hoses and vacuum hoses will be in the way...

It seems Kinugawa TD05H should fit well, as it is very similar to my S2A:

When you get a turbo mate you can unbolt the two housings and move the outlets to what suits you. As long as the rear housings match up dimensionally (someone correct me if I'm wrong on this, it sounds right about in my head) and the turbo isn't too big to fit down there (as the td05 is a bit bigger and your schwitzer is a bit lower)

Thanks Mate, but sorry I didn't get it. Did you mean exchange the housing?

I think he meant t3 for t3 or t25 for t25 etc etc.

T3 is the flange size I assume? Mine is T3 as I recently replaced the gasket.

I mean you are worried the td05 air outlet is gonna be in the way of your intercooler piping, so if you were to buy that exact td05 in the picture then in the centre of the turbo are a few bolts that hold the rear housing to the front housing. Cool side of the turbo to hot side of the turbo if you will. When you unbolt those bolts you can twist the two housings so that it orients exactly the way your Schwitzer does. The oil and coolant feeds/returns are in the same order on every turbo so you would be sweet there.

The caution I express is for you to ensure where the dump pipe attaches to turbo are identical between the two turbos.

Thanks, now I get it.

The kinu one has the same outlet direction, should be easy to line up with the intercooler without twist ing two housings.

Yep, that is my biggest concern too.

If not, the exhaust dump might need be made.
