I got a recall for my 2003 patrol, passenger side airbag last year and it went in to nissan earlier this year.
They got enough access to the airbag to read the serial number and then put it all back together as it was not one of the affected ones!
I cant believe that a car company in this day and age does not keep records of which airbags went into which vehicles!
I would say they only have to recall a small number of airbags bud dont know which vehicles they went in, hence a large recall of vehicles

Received a phonecall from Nissan Australia. My 2010 GU (Series 7) is not affected by this recall, but a previous recall, R1306 (Nissan Y61 Patrol accelerator pedal) is affected (hasn't been done yet) so I guess I need to book it in and get the recall done....

A new recall has just been announced with further VINs added. My VIN is in the range so I rang my local Nissan dealer this morning and spoke to a very surly lady in the service department. She checked my VIN and told me that it was not on the recall list. So I guess not all VINs in the range are affected.

Further to this I just received a follow up call from Nissan Australia confirming that my vehicle falls within the VIN range but only about 1/3 of those vehicles will need to be brought in for repair. The guy also stated that this will not occur until the end of the year when parts are available. Interesting that they are recognising that there is a problem that has injured and even killed people and yet they're in no hurry to fix the defective vehicles or get them off the road until they can be fixed.

My VIN falls in that range. Is it only passenger airbags? Because I have a DX so it only has the drivers airbag.

Clearly you don't understand the logistics of replacing 50+ million airbags for which all the parts have to be re-manufactured in the exact specification of the originals, shipped around the world, and scheduled for installation. Airbags are installed in many cars as sets with serial numbered matching sensors and are not the same as replacing a light globe.

But it's easy to sprout crap like "yet they're in no hurry....to fix MY car" blah blah blah.

Wait your turn like the rest of us.

Barely compares to the GM fiasco that came to light last year...

Notice 1997 & 1998 aren't on that list. Guess mine should be ok then?

Interesting... the recall says models built between 2004 and 2007... but the VIN on my 2003 model falls within the range given.

Don't forget that you have been driving around with an airbag which could deliver a shrapnel surprise instead of a nice cushy airbag for years.... Just because it has been on the receiving end of a media-driven fear campaign doesn't make it suddenly more likely to poke holes in your face.

Sucks to be Takata though.

I made the call the other day and even though my 05 falls within that vin range it is to recurve no repairs... There is a vin range within the vin range.... What a bunch of ******s.

Mines a 2000GUII and it has the passenger airbag, mines not in the recall list, but yes some of the earlier range did have passenger airbags.
