Default Frequently asked questions and answers.

So this thread will be made a sticky, This is in aid of helping poor people like myself from not going insane from stupid questions asked 838500003 times on stalk book, aka facebook.

Questions like can i fit 35's
Can i fit a gq bull bar
How much oil.
Why does my car blow white smoke
My car does not turn off yadda yadda yar.

So if you guys want to fill this out as you feel fit . I'll drop in an remove discussions and unrelated BS. Try and keep it to the point and then just link this to Facebook when you see a a basic repetitive question.

Cheers COILS.

You mean questions like "can I fit a 5 speed from a diesel behind my L28"?

Answer: No, not directly.

There are a couple of 160/MQ/MK gearboxes:

* Diesel and turbo diesel, these swap over, even if it is a 4 or 5 speed
* L28
* P40

All engines came in 4 and 5 speed exept the turbo diesel which only came with a 5 speed.

Now, a 4 speed can be swapped out for a 5 speed but you need different driveshafts and new mounts on the frame due to the 5 speed being longer.

Why can't a fit a diesel box behind my L28?

Because the diesel and L28 use different input shaft lenght's, bellhousing and gearlever locations.

I think the archives already do a pretty good job as an FAQ. Gee seems to keep the links relatively up to date and most of the common issues can be readily found without any conversation clutter getting in the way.

Generally mq/k gets left out, this is just for this model specifically . Have an old bible with links to outer's and I have started a new bible for more in depth stuff.

Gq's have a lot of parts that fit the mq/k and can be easier/cheaper to get.

Brake master cylinder of gq will fit mq(direct bolt up +better )
Front windscreen, seal and lwb rear windows are all the same
Gq front doors fit
Bullbars and rear bars will NOT fit without mods to mounting
Wipers fit
Front headlights(round) fit
Centre console can be made to fit (but tight)
Leafy gq springs DO NOT fit mq/k
Front guards fit
gq door hinges fit

Will add more when i remember

Gu hub nut assembly fits MQ/K and is a much better set up.

GQ cv's fit but you need to run GQ locking hub assembly .
