Default cheaper altentive oilfilter 4 sd33

Did a bit of a search but found nothing

Somebody said, But could not find about different oil filters, and being cheaper.

I run a ryco z149 retail somewhere around 35 bucks, i can get trade so a bit cheaper but there is a interchangable filter for a cheaper price out there.

So what have you guys turned up????

Perhaps a Z9? there fairly cheap, $14 so it might be worth it just to see if it will fit?

Hi, Z9 oil filters are 1/2" thread versus 3/4" for the Z149.

I use the Wesfil Nippon Max filter WZ149 which is directly interchangable.
Local Auto Pro give me trade which comes out at about $13 bucks. Retail is about $18-$19 bucks.

Yeah its a pretty good price and it appears to be a decent filter.
I have been using these in the patrol for nearly 3 years and using them in other cars for a few years more than that.
They are made in Peoples republic of China and probably so are many others.

The label shows ISO 9001 and something else. dunno if that means anything.

Geez $14 for a Z9 is very steep. I pay about $3 or $4 for the wesfil and even the Ryco is only around $8.00

By the same token you should not swap filters, especially for one half the capacity.

Hi Nerida

Nowadays I don't necessarily believe Ryco are any better than the others.
I change Oil & Filter religiously every 5000klm and the old oil always looks clean (for want of a better wording).
The one I use is an equivalent correct filter to the Nissan or Ryco for my sd33t. Its not just a cheaper one that fits.

Cheers Ric

There are cheaper BRAND filters that will do the same job but I wouldn't try a different part number filter to save dollars. Repco used to(Possibly still do) sell silverline filters, they are a bottle green colour. I had one once(for a commodore, not patrol) and sprayed it with carby cleaner accidentally, bottle green paint came off, it was a genuine holden filter.

Just another question on filters.
Can someone tell the part numbers for the Fleetguard and Donaldson Filters for sd33t and somewhere in Sydney that sells them.
Also where can I get the Baldwin filter?

Cheers Ric.

Hi Ric,
There is a much better solution to your problem.
For the price of about 3XZ149 filters and a bit of time, you can run 2xZ9s and make it a lot easier to change them with a $60USD remote filter kit from JEGS in the US.

Here is what it looks like in my boat.
Cheers,
Mike

Chrysler made two marine diesels in the late seventies.
One was based on the SD33 and the other on the Mitsubishi 6DS7.
Here is a link that may surprise some of you diehard Nissan fans.

gunna have to do something, i went back to the cartridge element and now there $30 too. nissan dont have them anymore and am on back order for a fleetguard.

Next rain day im taking a spare filter mount and heading to a truck joint to find a screw on one that will fit and wont be too dear.

Do I need to make sure i need a anti drain valve filter? . Still toying with the idea of remote mount like showed but then running into another cooler as well.

Cheers
