Default mq rock crawler l/ engine and box options?

Gday guys
Im about to start a mq rock crawler and the first thing I want to get sorted is engine/box/xfere options any ideas
I was thinking a carb 253 but was remined about inclines and carbs dont mix well.
Rb25/30 and v6 ecotec have been suggested also which I like.
My main drama is I have no bloody idea what will do what I need and what combos are able to be done.
Any info or qdvice would be great

Cheers

That is true .
Nothing crazy enough to turn 42" tyres at a decent rate of nots, im thinking in the range of 150kw ish I really dont know what it will take after reduction gears etc etc a mate competes in Tuff truck his v6 ecotec puts out 200kw ish and seems to do a good job

I've seen a Holden V6 powered Hilux crawler in action, more power would probably see it on its lid even more often than it is... if you go for a V6 get one with the lowest possibly mileage. Things go wrong with them after 200k. I've replaced head gaskets in one and it's not a small job.

Also, if you really do want some grunt, the supercharged ones really punt along.

If you can find a divorced transfer case from a lwb then you should be set to stick in any engine/gearbox combo you want, 3.8 commie engines are dirt cheap and have plenty of go

Divotced tranfere sounds like a good idea what other 4wds came out with a divorvced transfere , im assuming id be able to use a t700 with any divorced transfere?
Are they an auto that came out in another 4wd that would do the job?, as im thinking if I cant find a divorced teasfere I could use box and transfere from another vehicle and just get bellhousing adapter to suit engine I choose.

Pick a comp and read the rule book back to front. Even if it's just a social rig, try and meet the key regs just in case you decide to compete later on. If nothing else it will be easier to sell later if it's even close to compliant with a rule book.

Don't run a straight 6. Driveline length starts to become an issue. There's a lot of things you've got to work out yet but run a V motor as far back and as low as you can.

If it sounds like too big of a project, find something fairly simple, run the stock engine and drivetrain and just get out there and have fun while you smash it up.

Being a rock crawler and wanting to run 42's you would not want to use the mq/mk gearbox/transfer as I would think you would need a gear reduction set.
