Default Recall, Y62, fuel pressure sensor may loosen.

I took my vehicle to the local Nissan Dealer for its 1000kmservice.Had nearly 1500 on it after driving it up from melbourne. Apparently the computer at the dealers spat out a recall to do with the fuel pressure sensing device. I was told the exhaust system had to be dropped and they would need the vehicle of at least half a day.It is booked in for mid March so will not know anything till then.

What are the defects?
The fuel pressure sensor of some vehicles may be insufficiently tightened to the fuel rail, and may loosen gradually due to heat and vibration of the engine. In some cases, fuel leakage may occur between the fuel pressure sensor and the fuel rail.

What are the hazards?
If the defect occurs, and in the presence of external ignition source, there is a possibility of a fire hazard.

Mine is done. They needed it for most of the day.

They need to drop out the exhaust and also the tailshaft to get to the pressure sensor. Service guy said that they refit exhaust and tailshaft with new gaskets and a new set of bolts so make sure you let em know your coming in for the recall so they have all the bits on hand!!

Mine took a bit longer as they snapped a bolt in one of the cats while removing it and needed to drill it out with the right type of tool. Or at least thats what they told me.

Those cat bolts are a PITA. Getting them loose took a decent breaker bar, then they worked loose twice over the next few weeks. I ended up tightening them 15 ftlb past the torque setting in the shop manual. They must get crazy hot. Keep your eye on yours, if they haven't torqed them properly they will loosen and blow the gasket.

In relation to the Y62 recall on vin numbers it is telling me that there are nearly 10,000 Y62's
I read in a couple of reviews that there are less than 600 sold each year yet we are seeing more and more of them over here in sunny Perth.

If there are only like 1,500 on the road where are the other 8,500
This is an Australian Vin number I am assuming

I would be guessing if people are now buying say a 2014 model then it would not be a 2012 or 2013 build
Anybody have more insight on how many may actually be on the road or in Australia

We had ours done on Thursday, took them couple of hours and they completed a 20k service as well so had the Patrol for 4-5 hours total..
speaking to the service manage he said that they did not have to take off the exhaust and tail shaft as the thing that needs to be tightened is assessable without removing them saving a substantial amount of time!!

Had mine done today during the 1000km inspection - didn't take them long at all - longest wait was them waiting for the engine to cool down so they could get their hands in there.

Last Saturday in SA I saw two black Ti-L's being transported from Perth to Sydney. Short VIN No's were 1644 and 1700. Must be selling on the East Coast?

The sensor is on the back of the high pressure rail, in the valley. Part number 16:

Thanks Mate, any info on this is appreciated to fathom approximately how many are actually on the road and not in their holding yards.
Speaking to PURTROL last week he said he saw a holding yard over here in the west with large quantities, think he said it was the RAC holding yard in Kewdale, Couldn't find it on Google so when I speak to him next will try to get a street address and access to some more vin numbers to see if they are also up there in the 1600+ number range. Guess if they are shipping black ones over here that the holding yard PURTROL mentioned have other various colours other than black

Still yet to get my sensor tightened but from what I am reading and Sheikshifter's blow up I will be quizzing my 2 closest dealers to see how they do it prior to giving them the job. Not too comfortable with them touching the exhaust or tailshaft if doesn't need to be touched
