and is it simple as just turning the tps after I losen the bolts and watching the voltage change on the ecutalk display?

Do I do it with engine on at Idle or just key turn onto reds/accessories?

Sorry mate can't answer that one, I'll let someone with a relevant 4.2 answer that, our TPS reads around 0.48v, if setup for % then naturally it is 0.

My TD42TI reads 0.74V at idle(550rpm) and 4.04V full throttle.
Hope that helps

ta

are you auto or manual

I set mine to 0.58v now and sooooo much more smoother down below and makes boost come on earlier

Before it was sitting on 0.00v at idle

Mine's a manual.
I adjusted it back down to 0.6V at idle and can't really tell any difference. Might just put it back for now

Default options

All excellent info in this thread. If I may add, just for completeness if anyone visits this thread in future, there in another option to read the ECU.

In my 4.2 TDi, I have a bluetooth connection to whatever phone/tablet I want to read the data on, read and clear error codes etc. Logs data to a csv file too. Can customise the dashboard etc.

I have no connection to the seller, as I said, just to show options if anyone is interested. It's nissandatascan.com with a dongle from ConsultBT: Nissan Consult Bluetooth adapter

I seem to recall the factory manual says 0.4v - 0.6v at idle but the engine doesn’t need to be running.

Factory specs ? now who adheres to those when tuning ?

Its always best to do it with the engine running and you are happy with the idle speed as if you change idle speed the voltage changes.

You’re a more patient man then me to be trying to finely adjust the TPS on a shaking TD42

Even for td42ti?

If thats the case. I should adjust to match that?

What happens if lower or higher?

Do you get retarded timing and hesitation as a result?

Thanks again for your help

Can you guys decipher my ecutalk gauge at idle and at 2000rpm

When cold the car goes really well.! Responsive and boost comes on quickly.

When warmed up I noticed it has more of a hesitation to it.

Spoke to another Td42ti who had the same issue and he tried adjusting his pump timing and it made no difference. He got sick of it too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_Ds...ature=youtu.be

My first impression is injection pump timing is too low?
