Default Gas Strut on Engel Fridge

See a post the other day on another site which had gas struts on a 40ltr engel lid.
I want to do the same to my 80ltr engel, that way I can stop the kids from dropping the lid down and pushing it all the way back.
I have a 330mm long strut but now trying to work out the measurement to mount it on the lid and side.
Looking for help before drilling into the side.

Good job mate, looks like it will work real good. It would be a good idea to turn the strut around so the oil in it can keep the seal from drying out and letting the gas out.

I have since turned it around, that pic was when I first sat it on.

Looks a great job. I have recently did the same thing but found that the gas strut is too strong a pressure. It is a 100n pressure. Thinking of going down to say a 60 N. What type did you use . Thanks

I ended up starting with 100n but found it was way to strong, so I dropped down to 50n and it worked great.
