Default Get deeper into Off-Road Bumpers world with new Video Guide!

A set of wheels and tires or shocks and struts doesn't mean your make/model is 100% ready to hit the trail. The plastic bumper can get damaged on the trail pretty easily but on top of that, it also limits the approach and departure angles of your ride. Off-road bumpers, on the other hand, deliver you the best of both worlds.

An off-road bumper is not one of those things you can buy based only on its look, and once you start searching for one, a lot of questions will pop up in your head. Our tech expert Greg came up with an ultimate off-road bumper guide to answer all of them for you. Once you finish watching it, let us know if you still have any other questions!

Cool video, totally irrelevant for Aussies unfortunately. We get bullbars 'aka bumpers' for animal protection. Something your video didn't mention.

Also, no mention of regulation / airbag compliance. What about vehicle safety systems like intelligent cruise control, lane assist, forward emegency braking etc? Or don't American full size pick-ups have these features?

Regulations and airbag compliance aside.. All the rest is handled by software and the camera/radar fitted to the windscreen. Not the parking sensors.

Not if the vehicle is not specifically designed for it. One of the reasons why Nissan Aus never did a bullbar for Y62 is because of the cost involved with (re)testing the ICC radar once it's relocated from the bumper to the bullbar.

I know a lot of aftermarket bars simply provide a space for the radar, but Nissan has never validated or approved any of these relocations.

And BTW, the bumper / grille mounted radar sensor in the Series-2 X-Trail and Series-2 Pathfinder are not only used for ICC, but also FEB. So it will soon become a major issue for aftermarket bullbars on new vehicles, as the technology is rolled out.
