Yeah I whacked it onto .75 at idle and went for test drive. I noticed in 2nd gear there was a flat spot happening around midrange.

Actually got it spot on around 0.55 to 0.57v

Thanks for the tip about the pump side. Is it a matter of loosening a nut , adjust and retighten?

Wow. Just some feedback.
All this time eve. After two dyno tunes i felt my car was laggier like timing was retarded. Compared to my friends td42t.
The tuners reckons he had heaps of pre boost fuel.

Today i drove for an hour and how great does the car feel.. So much more responsive.
Like seriously. Yes i know the morning air is cold but it never felt like this.
Im happy as.

the only thing it can control is EGR operation - turns it off at WOT an allows egr during mid range
Also maybe advance solonoid under pump, I thought this too was on of off - don't know but you can sure tell when its not working

Before it felt like retarded timing when i turn the crank angle sensor on my gtr. No matter where i dyno tuned. Man this annoyss me. Shouldn't the tuners pick this up??

Ta. I guess dont touch timing if its not part of the pricing but atleast check the timing and settings by hooking up guages. Especially when you claim you do patrol 4.2 everyday

Just further feedback!
Its been amazing!

Off boost its sooooo responsive! This will help with fuel economy too for sure.
Im so happy.

Entire year of owning this car and now this.

Always check things that can affect timing!

Does anyone have the part number for the TD42ti TPS?

So you're saying lowering the TPS from 0.75V to 0.57V actually improved performance?
Mine is 0.74V at idle of 550rpm and 4.04V at WOT

I don't think it is on/off timing. Looking at the drawings the ECU appears to be running a mosfet to pull the low side of the solenoid to ground. This could effectively allow the ecu to send a PWM signal to the solenoid to give a roughly analogue voltage to the solenoid effectively altering its position throughout a set range. Not 100% sure of this as I just got mine working again and am a bit hesitant to pull it apart to hook an oscilloscope up to it but the theory kind of makes sense

Just did some reading and this came up as an excerpt from the Nissan genuine manual

"The ECM emits an ON-OFF duty signal. The longer the OFF duration, the greater the retard angle. The longer the ON-duration, the greater the advance angle. This means that changing the ON/OFF duty ratio makes it possible to achieve an optimal advance angle and accurately control fuel injection timing."

So it definitely does get a PWM signal which varies the solenoid position through a range and not just on/off

When I adjusted to 0.75 volts. I noticed a big flat spot mid range

Now from 0.5 to 0.58 volts

Plus book says it should be in the range of 0.5 to 0.6 volts

Even reading through . Diesel tec poster said when he dyno tunes he notices a massive flat spot when it goes over or voltage is under

Soooo smooth like timing is advance.
Turbo comes on earlier
Off boost car moves quicker even in lower rpm.
Up hill so much nicer.

And Im not imagining it. It is the case!

Everything you just mentioned above is what I have previously experienced when I retarded the timing not advanced. Wonder what's going on there?

I had no Ecutalk so I didnt know what was going on.
All I knew was when driving my mates TD42T 2001 model it was so smooth and responsive and that was with a Ht18 turbo.
I just thought maybe TD42ti were different .

After two dyno tunes you would think these "experts" would know
Happy its all sorted now but still not happy when you rely on these guys and pay them $400.

They should have nissan datascan or ecutalk to see the data.

Back of my head I always thinking it feels like timing is retarded so I was always thinking about the pump injection timing. Never new TPS on the td42ti does the same.

Spoke to a tuner on facebook today and he says he disconnects the TPS on the td42ti and it advances nicely.

Remember the upgraded fuel pump with electronic advance trim, ecu and intercooler were all added for emissions controls
Its possible that its used to retard at certain throttle settings?
I know if the advance solonoid isnt working, they rattle badly under decelleration
Its the only td42 with a tps or that pump
