Default Is politics shifting to the left?

Or am I shifting further right as I get older?

I just completed the ABC's vote compass thing on line.

It has me at 72% in agreement with One Nation policy. Now I would never vote for any member of that clowns party, yet somehow their policies are more closely aligned with me.

Which got me thinking, am I moving further to the right as I get older or has populism invaded the major parties and are the Liberal/Nat coalition moving further to the left?

I was certainly a swinging voter when I was younger, up to about 25, but as most of us mature we tend to be more centralist in our views. I have held a view to the right on economic policy for a lot of years, but generally consider myself on the center on some issues and left leaning, on social issues such as health care and education. I am a big believer in free education and hospital care.

I only come up at 65% in agreement with coalition policy, a lot less for the ALP at 42%, and, no surprises here, only 25% for the Greens.

I don't know whether I should be mourning my transposition to the extreme right or the Libs movement away from it.

I don't think it is, if anything, the friggin extremist lefties are gaining to much ground for my liking. Why people can't see past the next couple of years and think about proper planing for this country, is beyond me. s

Stop and think about our manufacturing industry, well that's .5secs you won't get back, because there is stuff all that will yield any hope of keeping this country going, if there is ever any sea cargo blockages in place.
