I guess you could say this is the geeks way. I experimented with a few resistors and found that anything up to a few hundred ohms doesn’t make much difference. Simply unplugging the resistor makes a very noticeable difference, but a bit harsh at light throttle. Anything between 1K and 5K ohms seems to work ok, but the higher the resistance, the quicker/harder the shifts.
The TransGo Kit really only addresses the 1-2 shift, where this mod effects all upshifts, downshifts and converter lockup.
Thanks for this information Chaz. Found this thread courtesy of @mad possum. I have tried the unplug the resistor trick to see if I like the feel (it IS a bugger of a plug!).

Love it, albeit manual shifts of the "t bar" at light TP do get a bit shunty and within a short while I got a P0745 code.

Just to make sure I understand this correctly: I simply take the existing resistor and put a 1-5K one in it's place? The higher the value the less the solenoid bypasses pressure?

This should smooth it out somewhat, and sort out my Patrol throwing codes?

Cheers mate. Just picked up another bracket/plug/resistor setup from the wrecker. I'll probably set it up the same was as Chaz's setup with the 2x 4K8ohm and a switch.

Tonight's job is to install projector LEDs into my full function lights and tidy up the loom for permanently, as well as re-install the standard line pressure solenoid resistor to get rid of my CEL and code for now.

Cheers all.

I've been testing the shift change and drive-ability of the trans with the factory resistor unplugged. It feels fine for my set up although as previously reported, at certain stages on a light throttle the 1-2 gear shift is really harsh.
Would it be ok to continue driving with it unplugged or should I just install a high ohm resistor so the TCM reads some voltage? I haven't had any faults at this stage.

Ta.

So I have a 4.2, disconnected the resistor and have no real difference. Is there a possibility the line pressure solenoid is not working properly?
I had the fault light come up and the pulsing when the vehicles coasting so the system at least recognizes it being disconnected.
Thoughts would be much appreciated.

I thought the line pressure resistor doesn't change the pressure, it just change the timming.....

It changes the pressure. Or more accurately it lowers the pressure so there is a bit of slippage so gearshifts are smoother.

I like shiny stuff
