History
The car was imported in Tanzania in the early 90's by a wealthy business man here. It ended up blowing the head gasket on its original TD42 in the mid 2000's and a Silver top TD42 was swapped in. After this incident the car was rarely used until it was parked under a tree in 2013. Beginning of 2021, I started to source for another GQ cause why not and ended up getting this one as it had features that my other GQ did not like the rear diff lock as well as rear AC and cooler. The body was in a very bad condition but the price for it was good as I also had some parts laying around from my other GQ Patrol.

The build took 8 months in total to complete and I was pretty amazed with what the car was capable of. After 8 years of not running, I just changed the engine oil, gearbox oil and differential oils, did around 1250 kilometers of travels within Tanzania starting with the Serengeti on the same shock absorbers that were in the car. I figured if something was to go wrong, it would be in the Serengeti...and it did. The left rear brake pad wore off and flew out of position when I was doing 90Km's on the rough Serengeti terrains. Luckily, I managed to get back to town which was 340 Km's away as is, loosing liters of brake fluid on the way as the brake piston would leak every time you brake.

As for now, the color has changed again to Gun metal grey and I'm looking to do more tarmac road trips on it. I am considering a TB48 Swap on it to make it way faster on highways (maybe even boost the thing) and the other GQ with the TD42 remains strictly for Off Road stuff.
