Hi all. I'm wanting to move to using only 'soft' recovery methods and taking out all the metal used in recoveries. Could I replace my winch hook with a 27 ton soft shackle? I won't keep it permanently mounted on the winch, only when I need it. Thanks

Hey guys I have a nissan steel bar which has a steel under tray mounted and its fouling on the 2 recovery plates I had intended to bolt onto the chassis,

Could they be the wrong plates, they were outback accessories ones listed as gq/gu?

DONT use the tiedown points OR the "tow" hook that are on your patrol, for snatching !
They are not rated or strong enough to do the job SAFELY.

I'm new to 4WD and am after a straight answer regarding the attachment of recovery points/plates to a 1998 GU Patrol.
I've been reading the forums as much as I can and some people think its fine to recover using the hook on the drivers side of the 98 GU Patrol and others don't.
