The belt driven vacuum pump that came with my Chev left a lot to be desired, so I replaced it with an electric version.

This is the PVC "tank" I just finished making and fitted today.

I also fitted (previously), a smaller tank made out of a piece of 4" exhaust pipe I had left over from when I made my snorkel.

This is the pump:

Since fitting the new Vac pump, I have found that the rubber hose that used to go from the idle-up solenoid (for the air conditioner) was just hanging loose and not hooked up to any thing. This meant that when I switched the air conditioning on, the vac pump just kept sucking away and no vacuum was available for brakes or clutch....

Hey mate, neat install, just wondering where you got the vac pump, i was thinking about doing something simlar on my td42 conversion to save me buying a factory vac pump or and alternator with the vac pump mounted on it

Hows it going so far now you have had it on for a bit??

cheers sean
