G'day guys from Dubai.

I recently bought a 2016 Y61 TB48 SWB and looking to do a 2" lift.

When I lived in Oz I previously used Dobinsons and looking to do the same here however I have been getting conflicting information from two different suppliers.

First supplier is recommending C45-132 on the front and C45-323 on the rear. These are only standard height springs however they are saying they will provide a 2" lift based on the local spec Y61.

Second supplier is recommending C45-189 and C45-134 and whilst they will give a 45mm lift looking on the Dobinsons website they are for a LWB.

On the Dobinsons website they recommend C45-004 for the front and C45-121 on the rear for the Y61 SWB so i'm completly confused.

Would appreciate everyones comments and feedback on what the optimal setup is.

Cheers

I have 3" dobinson springs in mine with 4" tough dog 45mm adjustable shocks with heavier swaybars front and rear. Love it. Works bloody great.
My 2 cents worth.

BTW, love the shorty.
Thanks geeyoutoo.

The concerns I have is that it will be a mixed use daily driver and weekend desert car. The daily driving will be on the highway sitting on 120-140km/h so don't want too high a lift that will make the ride uncomfortable.

Loving the shorty thanks mate. As its a manual its a lot of fun to drive

One of the reasons why Y61 was never offered in Oz in SWB was because of all the warranty issues they had with propshaft vibrations on SWB Y60s.

If you’re planning on doing lots of high speed highway driving, I’d rather err on the side of caution and go for something that won’t lift the vehicle excessively. The higher the lift, the more acute the propshaft angles and I wouldn’t want to be dealing with that at high speed.
Completely agree Andriek which is why I was hesitant about the second set of spring recommendations as it would lift it too much.

I'm also looking at gear box spacers, stearing damper and castor correction too

What are you thinking for tailshafts? Will you need double cardon joints? Or does a gearbox drop fix it?
They're recommending a gear box spacer which i'll go with and see how that works. Issue with the SWB is the light rear end so will look to do gear box spacer, steering damper and castor correction initially and then look to repalce the trailing arms after.

Lol, I've never owned a SWB Patrol, but I did own magic 2.7L diesel Rocky Daihatsu, go anywhere and just as fast sideways as forward on dirt roads.
Is the SWB Patrol the same?
Very easy to get the back out, especially when its raining. The Safari model I have doesn't have any traction control so its just you, the accelerator and a manual gear box. Just the way I like it.

One of the guys we drive with has a Isuzu Trooper RS which is a great little weapon in the sand dunes.

As an update both Dobinsons Oz and Dobinsons DXB are sticking to their guns for their respective setups so the solution is they want to try both and see what works best.

All booked in for next Tuesday so will let you know how it goes.

As an aside there should be a dramatic difference in the stance as I was measuring the current height and comparing it to stock and the rears are sitting at 51 (left) and 50.10 (right) (hub to guard) versus 55.6 in stock so the back shocks and springs are definately shot.
