You should never attempt to switch between 4H and 4L while the vehicle is not stationary and the grinding noise you are hearing could cause serious damage to the transfer case.Hi everyone, I have a 2014 Nissan patrol. When I'm breaking coming to a stop, the selector, I believe, thinks the car is losing traction so it starts switching between 4L and 4H (see pics attached) Sometimes I hear plastic gears grinding too until I slow right down.
Any thoughts on what this could be? Actuator?
There is something seriously wrong going on with your car as it would never attempt to switch between 4H and 4L on its own and this behaviour has nothing to do with losing traction. You must have a 4L selector issue and I’d think you need to have it looked at urgently, especially if it’s grinding.
