Hizit lads,

I've got a 2007 4.2D Normally aspirated. I have absolutely no problems with my motor to date, but i was wondering at what point do i need to start thinking about getting the injectors tested/checked/replaced ? I don;t want something to go wrong with this motor and would rather take precautionary measures.

your thoughts ?

I'm in South Africa, so won't make the commute to Berrime, unfortunately, haha. My vehicle has just gone 115 000 km, and drives the way it did when i got it. NO smoke of any type, Same fuel consumption, same power (or lack thereof) etc etc. As Nissan in South Africa are a bunch of incompetent tits, i'm worried about asking them to check the Injectors.... I've got a full service history with them, but i only do this to keep my resale figure high. I think i'm going to take it to the Land cruiser specialist here in Cape Town, he's the most respected mechanic we know..... i hate this.

Leave well alone - it's a fallacy (instigated by diesel repair shops touting for business) that injectors need cleaning regularly. Only when you start having problems (economy/starting/emissions) do you need to get the injectors checked out. Even then, the use of an injector cleaner added to the fuel and a good hard full rev / low gear blast can work wonders
