my aircon pump seized up, by disconecting the belt will it affect any thing else

No. WITH THE BELT DISCONNECTED YOU ARE FREE TO GO. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE IN THE FAMILY CAR -STALLS THE ENGINE BUT AFTER CUTTING THE BELT ALL IS GOOD. YOU CAN GET A RECONDITIONED COMPRESSOR -A LOT CHEAPER THAN NEW.

They are a sanden sd508. Keep an eye out on fleabay. Got mine for $40 out of a wreck.

im pretty sure it seized the belt was screaming and the pulley wasnt moving i could bearly start it and the belt was almost stalling the engine

Yeah that aint good.

So when you cut the belt off did you check the front of the aircon by hand? As stated you can drive around without the belt on no worries mate, its only an accessory. I have been know to cut the belt off in the bush a few times, the noise is horrendous.

yeah i checked it by hand and its stuck good and proper. the noise was terrible and it smelt like frying the back tyres

Aircon front centre plate is pump drive, pulley should free wheel when aircon off, if not will be bearing, if front plate siezed then pump is.
New Sanden SD7 compressor around $400, just put one on mates tractor, plus install,gassing, need to change to R134A gas, maybe lucky to find dodgy shop still doing R12.
Just done my ute, had a spare SD7 so job done cheap, no I'm not an installer just worked in industry years ago so had access to cheap parts years ago

I work with air conditioning every day, and you don't need to convert to R134a.They have a gas designed for the R12 systems, mainly consisting of hydrocarbons. In adelaide it's called Minus30.
