Having another minor gremlin - seem to have lost power to the instrument cluster. Engine still starts and other things run fine. The fuse is ok - but I dont seem to have power to it. I believe it is fed by the ignition relay - does anyone know which relay it is ? The fusabile link which feeds power to the relay has 12v on both sides - so that seem to be ok. .

Has that just happened or is it perhaps the reason your tacho isn’t working?

Also, is it power lost or earth?

Just happened and lost power. None of the lights are lighting up in the cluster when you go to "Run". Before this latest event they all came on. Both sides of the "Meter Back L" fuse don't have power and the fuse is ok.

In a GQ would it not be easier to replace the cluster for a TD42 one in place of trying to run the converter box

Finding one is the issue. Don't seem to be easy to find. Patrolapart have them for $335. Converter is cheaper.

Turns out the electrical gremlins was a dodgy relay and bad connection. Anyway got the tacho working by following Jimmy the tulips lead and putting a 470 Ohm resistor across R8. This seems to work fine on the low voltage output of the SGI box. Will need to check the tacho cal but seems good around idle.
