Lets get straight to the point,

How much "should" this be -

1. GU shell - blown motor but interior all in good nick. GU3. Standard alloys, with legal tyres. Alloy bullbar and all that bs. Pretty much a straight car, but blown engine lols. Registered till April 2011.

2. Average TD42 + fitted in Patrol?

My internet is way too slow, trying my best to find answers but it's difficult. Please help fast.

Cheers

There is a guy in the nt looking for around 12 for a heavily modified GU with a blown zd30 - he's still dreaming - I'd offer old mate 5... Providing it is in PERFECT nick other than the motor, the look at dropping in a chev 6.2L v8 diesel :-D oh and I have to say it "15 grand!!! Tell him he's dreaming!!"

There have been MANY GU's where the people have cut their losses on here, other forums and Ebay. not kicking anybody, but most were ZD's.

Most usually go ~$8k. 3-4 I can think of have had a fair wack of goodies on them. Some people are on heroin and ask 15-20k.

15k you can get a running GU. $10k you can get a running 2.8!

What model is it that this bloke is selling for $15,000? does it have *EVERYTHING* from radios, long range tanks, new suspension, new tyres, in car shower, dual batteries, roofrack, spotties, bullbar, winch, storage - cause thats what one of the poor unfortunates was selling for $8,000 on here when his ZD died less than 12mths into ownership. Bought used, no warranty.

To fit up a TD42 in one, drive in drive out is going to kill you dollars wise but I wouldnt expect any change from 10-13k to do it correctly..

Anyone thinks they are gettin a clean GU3's for $2000 should remove themselves from the gene pool. the diffs are worth that alone.

So it was 4.2 diesel that blew up?

Just kidding.

Considering you can buy a good second hand one for around 22-25 k.

This one needs prolly 10k spent on it id say 6-8 k would be plenty as youve got to do all the work.

if its standardish DO NOT SPEND CLOSE TO 10K! -its not worth it. as said you can get a running GU for 10k.

but if its got stuff on it that you want its worth way more possibly. . . . f&r airlockers, king smoothie shocks and hydraulic bump stops with braced diffs, reduction gears and beadlocked treps.

thats easy 10k value just there.

Thanks Bruce and Jase for the inputs,

just found a wreck in Salisberry QLD. Bronze GU3 I think with black flares. Originally was a 3.0ltr, but it has no motor, front end damage.

LFS Head light
Bullbar
I think it needs abit of custom work to it.

He wants 5k for it. Inside of the GU is immaculate, it's unsual because he just detailed a wreck GU Patrols interior lol, mad guy.

To sum it up, it's way too good for my budget. Gives me enough dough to get a healthy 4.2, with safari turbo kit. Still have most of the goodies from the old GU 2.8 like ARB bars and that, just need new lift probably just go 4inch Konis this time.

Hopefully start a new build thread, can't wait till i get back into a GU again!!!!

5k is a good buy (was a bit low in my first guesstimate, but no-one was giving you an answer).
You will have to get gearbox too?
Happy building!

Our mate that blew his turbo, didnt pull it down to see if any engine damge traded in on a navara got 13k, no lift, standard tyres.

B18C, remeber if you already have bars and what not from your 2.8 which would be either a 97-2000 model will not fit the GU111 unless can Modify the stuff, I am up to being corrected as I am often wrong :)

I remember buying an alloy bullbar off a GUIII for my GUI. Fitted easily but there was like a 1cm gap under radiator grill, but the lightforce covered that up though haha.

Just going to think about the rims and tyres, will take some time.

Need some thoughts,
Rims
Mickey Thompson Tires - Classic Lock
Is 16x10 worth it? Or would 16x8 do its job fine? Whatever is better.

Tyres, probably go 35's on BFG MK2 or 35's MTZs, loved my MTZ's last time I had it.

Gearbox probably just get a recoditioned one, with safari clutch/flywheel.

Will get some pictures of this wreck shortly, it should be a good 3-4months project. Just want something that will go better than my 2.8GU, but preforms the same or even better. Miss it loaaads :(.

Thanks all

Here's a thought; 16's were a a lot more expensive tyre than 15's, last time I looked.
Aluminum wheels? Well are you going for practicality or looks?

"Large bolt on simulated bead lock ring"......FFS.....
