You won't get better advice than Yom just gave you.
I know I would not be logging into a 4x4 forum and asking the fellas for medical advice, cause you'l be addicted to amphetamines and masturbation by the end of the week. lol
Yep, see your gp mate.

probably stress from your job (mine does it to me and times) my specialist told me to read or find something to do to get my mind off it. She reckons exercise is good,(EXERcise NOT Sexercise, lol), supposed to be good for relieving stress., have you tried that.

I find that if I can't sleep then listening to podcasts helps a lot. It's like being back at uni listening to lectures, they put you to sleep in no time!

Stuff from here is good:

ABC Services - Podcasts

It distracts me from whatever I was stressing about and knocks me out.

Headphones on and the phone / ipod under the pillow and the mrs doesnt get annoyed then.

1x river
1x fishing rod
1x self
1x deck chair
1x beer

most importantly..

1 'GONE FISHING' sign.

sounds like stress, or a case of the 'burnt out' blues..
have you got any holiday pay?
a week of would help.

Im fairly sure the Dr would know more than a bunch of wheelers. If you dont want to take the advice, suffer.

Get a referral to a sleep clinic and get checked out.

You don't want to go down the road of not sleeping properly for very long, trust me, I know only too well the results!:headwall:

I saw my gp about the same thing. Struggled to sleep an was really feeling it come weeks down the track. Suggested exercise an leaving the bedroom window open, wether hot or cold. The fresh air makes all the difference, started doing push-ups, sit-ups an curls. Started to improve my fitness as well as my sleep.

Definitely exercise and find a better GP. What type of work? Is it a stressful job? If you are waking up early as well that's a sign you are definitely stressed.

yea im a baker, night shift midnight starts, finish at 9 most days, no breaks in between so 9 hours on my feet in front of a hot oven. Work by myself all night til 2 when the boss comes in for an hour then he goes home again, very fuggen stressfull, if something goes wrong im in **** with the boss, and he such a cranky **** its not funny... Also some 1 asked how old i am, im only 21. I have been looking for jobs out in the mines to get out of this job, but am getting over looking, am considering a job on the local council, but i gotta get accepteded first, so ill just see how i go.

oh i'v been working here for 4 years as well

I think the reply above,re takin a week or so break, would be pritty bang on the money
Burning the candle from both ends results in cranking and p*ssed off people

keep trying for the mines, it gets you down but eventually you get there, see what they are after and head that direction (eg. generic induction and confined space/working at heights tickets, and anything else you seem fit to be able to do.) It all helps, don't be fussy about jobs, get in then move about by proving yourself..any job is better than what you are going thru...oh we do nights as well but not usually 4 years in a row...bloody hell your 21....get into it now, hit all the websites and keep going i put in over 150 differant applications for everywhere doing nearly everything over 12 months....finally when i decided to give it up and travel australia got the truck all set up and got a phone call...now living in weipa...setting the truck up more now...:)

Its usually due to an overactive mind. Any patients I have seen over the years is usually down to a combination of many things, with the main ones being: lack of exercise, stress/decision making events, alcohol (although that usually disrupts not effects onset), caffeine too late in the day, too hot/poor ventilation.

The other thing is the sleep/wake cycle. Getting into bed too late combined with big sleep in's is also a trap. Benzo's work but ONLY in the very short term.
