Hi All,
My name is Matt, I'm the new owner of the well renowned GUII TD42T Wagon previously owned by Jacket_1985.
http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/members-nissan-patrols-19/jackets-guii-td42t-wagon-rebuild-thread-bolt-bandit-74551/
This rig now calls Hervey Bay (QLD) home but will spend a vast majority of its time in Emerald (QLD) and in the surrounding coal fields where i work.

So the Modifications List is quite extensive and at this point I’m not even going to start trying to list them, but I’m sure most of them can be found in Jacket's project thread.
I will however get around to doing a list of all the modifications Jacket has done, The ones I've done and also the ones I intend on carrying out. Yes, I have already started modifying!

I'm very impressed with the vehicles performance so far. It was very comfortable to drive while bringing it the 2000+Km to its new home, very little body roll, literally no rear end walk, no vibrations when travelling at noise and better yet, no kidney bashing.
It has been taken on its first off road experience with me and considering it was on the 33" MickyT A/T's, it handled the "above sill height" "mud soup" extremely well. In fact, I ended out pulling a pathfinder and a 200series cruiser through the 2km+ mud run then reversed all the way back through it just to stick it to the cruiser fans, whom may i add could only tell me that no patrol compares to any cruiser. LOL

Problems so far: nothing major, snapped an injector supply line to the 6th cylinder when returning to work last weekend and am still waiting on a replacement one to rock up. Had a high pitched knocking noise in the engine when i purchased it, pulled the rocker cover off at work and reset the clearances on the tappets to resolve the issue.
Roadworthy: Let’s just say that within a couple of weeks the firewall will be a sea of blue plates and with the help of a couple of friends and their contacts the vehicle will be completely legal and roadworthy.

It's by no means a tidy truck, but it is definatly a very capable and soon to be well equipped one. I plan on doing my best to clean it up, restore some plastics, swap some interior parts with ST ones and fix up the headlights/grill which appears to be held together with zip ties.

Well that just about covers it for now, I'll be sure to take lots of pictures, measurements and notes of everything that i do to this rig and post it here as i'm sure there are many people interested in watching the continuation of this build/project.

Matt

Finished my hitch at work and am on my way home for a 4 day brake. This will be my first chance to do any real work on this thing. Expecting to have UHF, spotties and possibly winch sorted out, some interior lights hooked up and maybe even a loom made up so I can eventually piss off the stock ecu and utilize my motec. Going to do a major service and work out what is creaking in the steering when close to full lock and above all, get mod plates fitted and collect roadworthy do I can get it on road. Might put in a viper alarm if I get the time too and start looking at designing and fabricating a custom water to air inter cooler and plenum chamber. I'll keep a camera in hand and post progress of the weekend

No update. My time off got cut short as work called me back to the mine on Easter Sunday. The alternater **** itself do I gotta try and organise another one for when I get back. The suspension is amazing for highway work, next to no roll and the rear end has no walk in it. There is a creaking noise then on full lock that I am yet to diagnose and I want to put a spacer into the front drive shaft to put the front axel back where it belongs. That's about it for now. I've ordered an icom iv-208h radio to put in but have given up on alot of the previous mods I planned on for the time being as I now have very limited spare time. I'm now just going to make it reliable for the time being and get it off road so I can see what it really needs instead of doing pointless/unnecessary things to it

Sounds good, it's a pretty flamin' good truck already. I would do a UHF, lightbar, warn rc9.0 and drive it :D

The 'click' on full lock might be the bottom of the shock just clipping the bolt on the rock rod. That was pretty tight from memory. Didn't foul on the hoist but the rod can rotate a tad, and that might be enough to rub. I wouldn't worry about the front drive shaft, all the geometry is correct there

Took it out for a stroll the other day to see what i could could get it flexed up on, unfortunatly this was the best we could find out here. I havn't really had a chance to sus out the 4wding areas out here in Emerald yet but im hoping there is something abit better than this.

Ill just poke a hole in your plan of portal axles by saying that the front diff bracing/lamination prohibits that housing from being used in a conversion. You would also end up with a hugely top heavy car.... With over 8inches of lift.

Super flex arms are a good idea, but make sure they are for a 0 inch lift. Otherwise you will throw your front angles out and it will steer like a bucket of snot.

For a rear bar contact Allan at racebred4wd. 1200 gets you a strong rear bar with led's.

yeah, the portal hub idea is a wild dream, in reality, im never gonna shell out $14K+ for a conversion.
I'm thinking of dropping into Supeerior next time im down there and seeing what they have for it.
Yeah, i'll have to get allans number from you and i'll give him a bell
