Well not sure but I presume so this is why I have asked if anyone has purchased one, am waiting to hear back from the to see just what the unit controls such as fuel only or fuel and timing ect. Their figures sure seem good enough.

bought one, cost A$650 land in sydney. the reason i bought one was this is a plug & play 'digital' unit. i was told some chip units ( like dtronic) which need to be wired to the fuel pump are not digital mapped. in fact, i can get those cheap no digital chip lots more cheaper. but for the peach of mind i get this one. i will try to install it this Saturday. will provide some update later. i still dont understand why things in australia can get so expensive. i was in europe where performance chips can be really cheap to buy especially for those popular cars.

I shall await your feed back, as the price seems right just need to know that it does what it says.

Looks like you are the test subject. wonder how it lines up against the Chipit unit?

installed the chip ( plug in between the pump and the original cable). no addition wiring needed. took about 15 minutes to install (plug and play).
test drive the car : wow! it drives like a totally different car! no smoke ( use default setting). try to drive very hard in short uphill ( 100 meters) only egt get about 430 ( about 40 more than before). but the car is really 'fly'.....

I see yours (Patrol) is 06, which box did you get? Did you choose from drop down menu:
this one

160 PS (118 kW / 158 bhp)
Torque: 380 Nm (280 lbf/ft)
Option: VP Pump / 09/2004 Onwards

or else?
Cheers

Sounds like this could be a good unit, be interested to hear back from you once you have put a tank through to see if fuel usage goes up or down did you try it on the mid range setting? Think I will do inter-cooler first followed by chip or lift pump depends on the dollars I have. cheers TAZ

the chip come with mid range setting ( those figures quoted from their web). i have done CC inter cooler, egr , dawes and needle valves plus snorkel. i am very happy with the car now. pre chip installation, the car returns ( no tow, 3 people on board) about 10l/100km on free way conditions.

Just purchase on too

I have just purchased one too, I sent them an email requesting some more info and they replied quickly plus gave me a discount voucher for 50 pounds, so if your thinking of getting one try an email off to them first and you may be able to get a few dollars (pounds) off. I wont intall until I get my Pyro & Boost gauges installed.

I have emailed them too. See how we go. It seems like very good value. How long are the leads? can you take a pic of your install?

Have finally got off my butt and installed the Chip Express tune, very easy to install. My initial response was “Dear Mother of Lord” as the torque improvement was truly noticeable, it pull away from around 1000 rpm as it would normally around 1800 rpm.

Travelled from Nowra to Western Sydney, mostly H’Way driving averaging 76 KPH over 181 km journey, max speed 114KPH and according to the ScanGauge averaged 10.30 Lt/100Km, water temp max 95C (mostly sat at 90C.

The only negative I could see was the EGT where higher by about 50C (400 – 500C) on the flats and on a incline they sat about 75 – 100 C higher e.g. going north up Mount Ousley it was doing it in 5th (manual) at 80 KPH but the EGT climbed to 600 c at this point I dropped it to 4th to get the temps back down. It would have easly pulled 5th gear all the way if it wasn’t for the EGT scaring me.
Note: I have installed a AutoGauge Pyro with the thermo head only 40 mm post turbo flange, most I’ve read about seem to be 150 mm, not too sure if this is why my temps are higher than most, also my EGR is still not modified. I think I should have checked the gauge for accuracy by calibrating it with the boiling water test prior to installing to see how accurate it is/was

On the way home (south) I decided to pull the fuse out of the Chip Express as the EGT were worrying me and with a heavy foot there was evidence of unburnt diesel out of the exhaust.

Have sent an email to Chip Express advising them of the above so they can advise me of which setting to move the jumper tab too.

If I can still get the same torque as above but with a lower EGT, I will consider the $622 spent, good value.
As you can see from my signature I have very few mod’s as yet and hence I may have to de-tune the Chip a little until other mod are done e.g. exhaust.

How log was the lead for pluging it in. I asked them if the chip is water proof and they emailed me back saying no. I am concerned if i do river crossings it will **** itself. Where did you guys mount your chips.

Mounted the unit near the brake master cylinder, will put it in a platic box and better fix it more secure after I do some fine tuning. Will try to take some pics latter.

Chip Express V Dtronic?

Hi all

threads abit old but better to keep using this one than start another.

Hows the chip express users find it after couple months?

I've got a D tronic which im pretty happy with but thinking about buying a chip express for the pat see how the stack up against each other. From ealier posts if i understand correctly this unit has to plug into the fuel pump in the engine bay? Dunno about that could be easily damaged?
