Cluster problems

134 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  patrolW
I went ahead and changed the globes in my cluster and a/c unit to stedi t5 led globes.

They all work but after i put everything back together, my fuel gauges are stuffed, my air bag light is on and my odometer reads 999999.

also blew a fuse for my headlights and spotties.

any solutions? i was thinking maybe a bad soldering connection or i stuffed one up pulling the plugs out the back

cheers

If you turned the ignition on with the instrument cluster disconnect or any other air bag component disconnected it will set a code for the air bag system. This will need to be cleared with either a scan tool or there is a sequence of opening the doors and cycling ignition that can clear it. There are a few different options depending on your year model on YouTube so give a couple a go. It doesn't matter if the vehicle they use isn't a Patrol along as it's a Nissan.

Fuel gauges, start by decking the fuse in the fuse box inside the vehicle. Might need to remove the instrument cluster again and confirm you have reconnected all the connectors fully into lock position.

Which fuse had blown for the headlights? This is strange as the only headlight input in the instrument cluster is the high beam warning light circuit. I would only expect the LHS headlight fuse to blow. Did you disconnect the spot light switch? any chance you have pinched a wire going to this switch?

Its my whole cluster thats not working, actually. Didnt realise coz I didnt drive it since I stuffed it up. Revs dont work either. Found on another post its an earthing issue. Might have to run an earth for each electrical accessory i add to the car
