Just thaught I might create a new club, As the title suggests Join if you have punched out 200,000 big ones without any major engine dramas in your CRD patrol, Creat a bit of a time line with things that have happened faults ect.

Lets start.... Ill take #1

Here are my CRD must do's Must haves From experience.

Scangauge
Restricted EGR
oil change every 5K
Turbo timer, or learn to idle it down
Remove middle section of your exhaust or bigger exhaust
Dexron III in the manual gearbox
Learn where the maximum power is in the engine and drive within that range
dont be afraid to put your foot down and blow out the cobwebs
stay away from nissan dealers

Also if you factor the odometer inacuracy in my patrol that a discovered a few years ago I realistically have more that 230,000kms on mine. :D

Here is a bit of a time line, Just off the top of my head, I might add a few things later on if i remember.

40,000kms- boost gauge fitted, Beaudesaert exhaust fitted

50,000kms Steinbauer power module fitted ( has been re mapped 3 times now and finally hapy with the result)

60,000kms- Belt tensioner replaced under warranty

67,000kms Timing cover oil leak, gearbox removed looking for leak. Nissan discovered 3 sheared flywheel bolts. No questions asked the clutch pressure plate and flywheel changed no cost to me. ( suspect tis was damaged from factory or by dealer removing the gearbox)

80,000kms Picked up vehicle from nissan after the 80k service noticed the gearbox was much harder to shift and didnt feel like it did before the service.

86,000kms Gearbox started grinding in 4th gear

90,000kms exhaust removed and back to standard, due to overboosting issues, no further problems after exhaust was removed

97.000kms 4th gear syncro rebuilt under warranty. Noisy wheel bearing replaced under warranty, nissan also complete the 100k service while they had it.

110,000kms while my mechanic was doing the service attempted to remove the oil filter but had a lot of trouble, eventlaly the whole filter cover and oil cooler assembely shattered thanks to nissan overtightening it last service. whole oil cooler and filter housing had to be replaced

120,000kms removed middle section of the exhust and fitted a straight through pipe, improvment in fuel ecconomy, boost also seemed to run a lot more stedy and controled

150,000kms exhaust dump pipe cracked, re welded it my self, appears one of the brackets holding the exhaust was missaligned or bent when the gearbox was removed creating a stress point

154,000kms blocked fuel filter causing vehicle to stall under heavy acceleration in 1st gear,

167,000kms faulty radiator/resiviour cap loosing coolany while on Fraser island ( Luckly was able to pick up a varience in the temprature with my scan gauge before the engine got too hot and any damage was caused.

180,000kms used my aftermarket leas warranty to replace the leaky intercooler and A/C condensor fan in front of the radiator which stopped working. also had the wheel bearing replaced ( aparently had rust on them)

190,000kms Viscouse fan not working correctly or locking up. renewed the fluid seems ok now ( had it out 3 times making adjustments and altering fluid level)

200,000kms Leaky injector pump ( still runs like a dream) Discovered a cracked rear barn door and also cracked EGR pipe.

Might throw up some pics of a few additional mods I have done, And of corse a Picture of the vehicle with a new set of Bighorns

Boost gauge and additional coolant temp set to alarm at 100*c. Might get around to buying a proper pod for muy gauges one day.

Droped off the car yeastrday at Diesel care to get a referbished injector pump.

Also while it is in the shop getting a 30micron pre filter and water seperator fitted for piece of mind.

Aparently this filter will not cause any problems flow to the pump as I asked.

This will now allow me to change the fuel filter at 40K intervals ( $170 genuine) instead of the 20k intervals which I have been changing it at. I will change the 30 micron pre filter at 20k intervals ( $44)

How much is a refurbished injector pump for the crd? Also, what does refurbishing entail? Is it rebuilt?
$1250 for an exchange pump. All new seals ect so basicaly should be like a new one. About 5 hours labor to remove and refit.

That's a fair price. It's cheaper than a DI injector pump, which really surprises me.

Wow i would of thought there would of been another Zero on the end.
Well its just a simple pressure pump when you look at it, just has to supply high pressure to your fuel rail that's it all the timing is done by your ecu and injectors. And when re installing the pump it dosent have to be timed like a traditional injector pump meaning you dont have to remove any timing gear which is messy in a zd30.
Just got the phone call this morning that my patrol is redy to pick up. The bill to remove and re fit the pump plus the exchange pump was paid for by my aftermarket warranty provider :)

The warranty expired at 200,000kms

drove into diesel care Toowomba whilst on holidays and diagnosed a leaky injector pump, the vehicle had 199,816kms on the clock.

So very happy with the outcome, only had to drive back to Toowoomba to get it fixed which is 800km one way for me.

Have had the ute since 160,000km

Only drama has been the alternator pulley destroying itself.

Great Vehicle!

Hi ,

Where did you tee in for the boost gauge ?? I was going to weld a socket in the intercooler pipework before the cooler ??
that is exactly what I done weld a fitting to the elbow before the intercooler.
On the picture of your engine bay, isn't that 't' piece where you tapped the boost gauge into? If not what is it?

I just bought an 08 cab chassis ex-mine, 220,000 on it.
It came with;
Heavy duty steel tray
Bullbar
Side steps
Brush bars
Cb Radio

Things i've done;
Removed all redundant wiring from the mine fleet ****
Head unit
Alpine Type-r speakers
Converted the windows to power windows

Plan on doing;
Get an Alluminum tray
Convert mirrors to electric
Convert bench seat to a bucket seat and console
Boost gauge
pyro gauge
scangauge II
Dept of interior dash pod
EGR block with CEL fix
Intercooler fan mod
Oil catch can

The T piece in the engine bay shot is the heater hoses which have been tapped into to run the capilary temprature gauge. Just above the t piece you can just see the intercooler pipe which has a fitting welded on. Its pre intercooler but is exactly same reading as the scangauge.
Just an update, 240,000kms service a few days ago, main Fuel filter was much cleaner with the 30 micron filter installed.

Barn door still has a slight crack after welding, Havent bothered as dosent do too many KMs anymore will worry about it whan it gets really bad.

Red arc coolant loss monitor installed

Digital Coolant temp set up and working great 100*c alarm

Had the intake manifold removed and cleaned a few months ago, no noticible difference to preformance or ecconomy.

Rear suspension replaced

Apart from that still running great.

What sort of fuel ecconomy do you get out of your 6.5L?
Here it is Clicked over the other day.

300,000Km
Still on its original Injectors. Running better then ever.
