G'day im buying a 89 gq TD42 with 3" exhaust this week it has 260,000kms and is running a denco turbo system with front mount intercooler set at 6psi. Just wondering what i should get psi tuned too that won't put too much strain on it? The turbo is 40,000kms old btw.

Cheers Brent

Have a chat to Aussiemav91 He had a Denco and it overspooled but he had it turned up a bit. 15PSI I think.
I have the same turbo set at 7.5 PSI. I have had no problems except with it being a high mount it sits very close to the second battery and tends to cook it on a regular basis. I have recently fitted a heat sheild to protect the batt. I will see how it goes.

Cheers for replys, i'll most likely get it tuned too 14psi i think. I'll pm aussiemav. Anything too look out for with this turbo setup? It's got a 40 sec turbo timer

Thanks brent

My old Denco died at 10+ years no exact age as mine was the third truck it was on.. It ran at 15psi most of it's life.. The new one with quicker spooling rear housing (same bleed setting on the bleed valve) is now running at 17psi. Also have a mate who runs 17 with a big pump and Denco intercooler making 175hp on 33s goes great. I'm actually looking into upgrading the compressor wheel and cover to a bigger one. Anyone modified a Denco S2A?

if i remember correctly the s2a turbos run a very small rear housing. and quite a small front housing as well. so tend to be a very inefficent turbo on the td42s.
have a look at tough diesels turbo thread in the gu section. the restrictions at a fairly small boost level were astronomical, so he binned it before any more testing was carried out. or shoot him a pm on his thoughts on them. he dislikes them alot.
