Hopefully be getting a 4.2 1993 Safari. I heard that you can swap the diffs over for ones out an earlier 2.8td (1997,still square shaped) to lower the gearing to allow the running of larger tyres (35") without loosing to much power/gearing.

Is it true.?

Sorry for my lack of model numbers :headwall:

Cheers,Fraser.

yes mate

RD28 powered vehicles run a 4.6 ratio
RB30 (petrol 3ltr) powered vehicles run a 4.3 ratio

You can also use the gears/centre from GU patrols to mate
