I have to tow my van up a longish steep driveway. Problem is I have to stop near the top as it is difficult to see if there is any traffic coming. Last time I did this it needed some serious clutch slip to get it moving. Don't want to do that!
So I'm thinking of putting the patrol into low range 4WD to get up the drive. Trouble is I will have to make right hand turn and travel about 50m before i can get out of 4WD.
Will this be ok or will it cause the diff to bind?
Thanks in advance.

I use Low range with the hubs unlocked. No wind up issue then

^^^ This! I've done it on bitumen to haul dead cars up inclines with no adverse affects.

Manual hubs Jamie.
ChoppedGU, forgive my ignorance, does that mean I will be in low range but rear wheel drive only? And no wind up over short distance?

I suppose the hubs lock so you will be in 4wd but you can go on the bitumen for a little while like that.
