Hi all

have a 99 gu patrol 4.2 td ute, I had the clutch replaced 1538 klms ago, over the last 3-4 days i am having trouble selecting the gears when stopped or going slow.
no problems once moving on open road
im in longreach atm on my way to darwin -- what could the problem be

I also have the 4.2td but in the wagon! and the clutch is not new but i have found that its incredibly hard to get second when slowing down you almost have to stop then the same for first once stopped unless i put it to nautral first then first then it goes straight in. Sorry i cant help you but atleast your not alone.

rejy i have the same problem from 5th to 4th.theres abit of a NACK TO IT dont gin around down shifting im not saying jam it in there but if ya do it quickly it should go straight in.mines the selector going.

Check the clutch master cylinder for contamination.
Check the slave cylinder for leakage & correct operation.
Change the Master cylinder oil.
Are you giving it a rev when changing?
Change the oil in the box as a last resort.
