Do not buy a TDC PowerBox CR plus for your CRD off Ebay. I bought one for my Patrol CRD and one for my D22 CRD. Not quite 2 years later and they have both blown up. They are not a reliable unit and have both failed in the same way.

Steer well clear of them if you see them on Ebay.

Purchased a chipit unit to replace the one on the patrol and will now do the same for the D22.

You have a great product with the loadable fuel/boost Maps. Better than anything else on the market especially at the price that I had to choose from. I am certainly happy with the product on my CRD Patrol.

It's a bit of a minefield this subject, have been considering replacing my old Safari DTronic (which is not adjustable) it still seems to work OK but something that gives me performance options would be nice.

You can read all the info you want on this subject but you can still come away confused, the more you know the more questions you have. With each vehicle being different in setup no two experiences are the same, Oh well! decisions, decisions!

They are fully adjustable. Even the old style dtronic has full 3d mapping of fuel and timing.

People said that to me as well when I had one, but no one could tell me who was able to do that. I contacted Safari and they were as useful as the proverbial.

There are 3 dealers in victoria. APS Australian & New Zealand Regional Dealers

The reason tuning of unichip is limited to dealers is because its risky to map diesels without the proper equipment. Much more so when you have full access to injection timing which no other chip does.

If none of those dealers live close to you, the next option is to have the car dynod as is. Send the chip and dyno graphs (with afr) through to either me or dynomotive and we can remap it on the bench to suit.

You will need to adjust your statement regarding "full access to injection timing which no other chip does" as I know of two other chip manufacturers that have that feature ... one being ours.

Chip It now have injector tuning modules :) ... all plug and plug items too

Hi Robert,
are they going to be plug and play like the dtronic or wired in, any idea on prices at the moment?
Cheers.
Pre common rail modules and Injector piggy back modules (suiting solenoid and new Piezo Electric style injectors) are now available.

The Pre common rail is a simple connection to the spill valve (control solenoid wire) on the electronic pump. All connections are supplied for both pre common rail and injector modules.

Prices on the pre common rail modules are same as the common rail items. The injector piggy back modules are $1349.00. All modules can be optioned up to EGT controlled units so that if exhaust as temps rise too high (as can occur with ANY chip/module/piggy back tuning system) the Chip It module will de- rate the tune back to factory spec. Once the temps come back down to safe levels (say 500 deg Cel) the performance tune is re-instated.

We have the option of EGT Control so that tunes can be increased to higher levels and for total peace of mind.

When you have higher state tunes then having extra protection is a real good investment. Even a EGT guage by itself is a good idea to at least see when things are getting too hot. (say hot day, towing a caravan up a great big hill)

Thanks everyone.

Interested to see more on your chip that does injection timing. Can you give me a link? I couldnt find much about it on your website.

Haltech interceptor and Chiptorque xede can both do timing also, but the problem is they dont have all the crank trigger patterns or rpm pickup's for diesel vehicles. Nor a big history on shops using them on diesel engines.

OK you will be able to see it real world when others tell you about it:)

The fact is, chips do not cause issues if kept to pre set tunes ... if they did forums worldwide would be FULL of "DON'T FIT CHIPS BECAUSE IT WILL STUFF YOUR ENGINE". You know as well as I do that customers do not have tuning rights in any case. We certainly do not give out the Pro Tuner Software to end users. Only true tune shops have this software that opens up the internals of the programming.

Our customers get the Macro tuner software that allows them to load our pre set tunes only or the tunes that we tweak for them and email them. This gets them a new tune for their vehicle within minutes. A pretty good service and it costs the customer ZIP. We do this for free. Of course most (99%) of customers wont need this extra service.

Ok we are back. I am up to two hours + on sorting this out, remember that I am a volunteer... I have taken out what I considered to be irrelevant/personal/pointless stuff, so we go again.

Some fair points and questions have been raised and I expect fair responses, otherwise don't respond at all.
