This must be the same as "pink wire mod" you can do for $0.5

Have highlighted a few bits, seems it only works on a CRD with the later MAF, does not mention a DI even though the later DI's had that type of MAF so there must be some sort of difference and I would say the ECU is it, the bottom part says it plugs into the MAF sensor so it seems it modifies signals from the MAF to the ECU, without detail on what it is actually modifying I'd be reluctant to try it on a CRD without talking to someone at the distributor.
Nissan EGR Blanking Module
Suits:

Nissan Patrol GU Y61 with the ZD30 CR (common rail engine) 2007 onwards

Nissan Navara D40 Spanish built models with VIN# starting with VSK with the YD25 engine

Nissan Pathfinder R51 Spanish built models with VIN# starting with VSK with the YD25 engine

Nissan Navara D40 Thai built models with VIN# starting with MNT with the YD25 engine

Nissan Navara D22 Thai Built models with VIN# starting with MNT with the YD25 engine.

Nissan Navara D22 Japanese Built models with VIN# starting with JN1 with the YD25 engine.

This is an electronic plug in module designed to Control the EGR valve and restrict exhaust gasses being recirculated into the engine.

There are many benefits of a plug in module, the main reason being it is easy to remove if required.

Blocking off the EGR will result in cleaner intake systems, increasing engine life.

It can also reduce fuel consumption and because you are redirecting the exhaust gases back out through the turbo, the turbo will spool faster.

HOWEVER, This Blanking Module will only work if you have a functioning EGR vlave. This Module will NOT fix an EGR code issue or light on the dash.

This plugs into the airflow sensor / MAF Sensor harness so its quick and easy!

Thanks for the reply, guys. A friend of mine was looking at it. Has a 2015 gu zd30 crd
Yep.
For CRD, plug into the MAF. No reason it should not work. It is an easy one.

it is a "packaged" and 'clean' pink wire mod for those who do not want to insert the 10cents resistor in serie with the MAF air temp wire to make the ECU believe air temp is very cold, which prevent the actuation of the EGR in a 'soft way'.
The EGR blank with a plate creates peaks and lows of boost. The "pink mod" or this one will not. Not so expensive. So worth it.

Blocking the EGR creates turbo peaks and lows? I've got a 2006 with a ZD30 Di and 160000 km on it. Recently the EGR was blocked with a plate. Should I consider unblocking it and doing this "pink mod." I don't have a boost gauge and EGT monitor set up yet, but am working on that.

Not needed on a Di. Only CRD throws a fault code when you block the EGR.

Back to the OP’s question, you have three options:
a. Cheap and nasty with a 10c resistor
b. Build your own patch harness (which is what I did) with ~$20 worth of parts. Need a bit of experience with the wire strippers and crimpers though.
c. Play it safe and pay the $90 for the Patrolapart one.

End result for all three options will be the same so it’s up to your technical abilities and/or OCD levels.

Thanks to all for their input, will let my friend decide which option he wants.

Hi @AndrieK ,
it is not so much that it is "not needed" on a Di, but "impossible to fit" as we don't have an air temp sensor built-in within our MAF. So the ECU will continue to "play" with the VNT when EGR is blocked and create peaks and lows, until "something else" does the job properly.

Leave it blocked. The pink mod is a clever "soft block" from @Malicious but only on CRDs not on Dis.
This will prevent the ECU to play with the VNT to compensate for its opening/closing of the EGR, but since the EGR is now physically blocked, the ECU management of the VNT vanes is no longer "valid" and now creates peaks and lows of boost that you definitely don't want.
On a Di, do your own research. There are different ways to manage a VNT properly, some better than others.
