Hey all

I'm going to install a EGT on my 3inch system.
I've mounted the probe about 200mm down the dump pipe from the turbo.
Is this too far away?
Should it be closer? If so what's the best location for the probe to go on the dump?

Thankyou

I was thinking that if I stuck it down by the flex joint I wouldnt have to worry about getting high EGT readings on my gauge.

don't do this, it should be close to the turbo as possible 50mm is good

Hi mate, what manifold do you run? I put mine in my manifold, but I am thinking about changing it to the new dump pipe when I get my new manifold.

Come closer , closer , thats it

yeah Id say everything I read before making my 3 inch dump for a high mount , suggested as close as practical, mines around 50mm from the rear turbo flange, seems to work well, temps seem to follow whats been reported on here before for a garrett 2860.

I use a banks pyro gauge , and the probe is in no way effected by heat , like any good quality sensor should.

Put it in the manifold

Anywhere else and you are just guessing what the real temps are. Could be 0-250 degrees out.

There is a thread somewhere with the temp differences and how inaccurate it is
