Hi Guys,

So bear with me, because I'm a newbie. Hoping to find some help!
When I got my Mav a couple of months ago (first project 4wd, very excited and I'm sure you'll hear from me again), the only window that was working was the drivers, so I've put off sorting it out because I was happy!

The rear right window would click and the motor was working sporadically but no up and down still. We cleaned one of the switches as I'd read they get dusty/dirty to see if it was that but still no joy.

My drivers window decided to stop working in the middle of the non stop rain last week. It'll go down, but not up... It's not fun. It's currently wrapped in glad wrap.

The only auto electrician I had a recommendation for is booked up till next Thurs and I'm going on a trip this weekend so 2 questions:

1) Can anyone recommend a good auto electrician on the Northern Beaches/North Shore who's not going to rip me off?
OR
2) Can anyone give me a run down of diagnosing it and fixing it myself?

Thanks in advance :)

I can only suggest going around to each switch and testing for power in /out with a test light. Most common fault is with the contacts in the rocker switches, pull them apart and clean the contact surfaces.

If there's power coming out of the switch to the motor, then remove the motor and clean the brushes inside. Its not hard, just fiddly.

cheers.

Thank you :)

If anyone can recommend an Auto Electrician around the Beaches it would be appreciated.
And any other suggestions for what I can try. I have already taken the switch off and cleaned it and it didn't change anything which makes me think maybe its a wiring issue?

Pull the door card off and wind it up with a manual winder. This will at least close it until you find the gremlin in the main driver side control. As stated this will be the culprit. Break apart and clean all contacts. Fiddly but will be the issue. I always kept a window winder handle in the car just in case after that. Good luck.;)
